                                                  Small Pine

Small Pine was inspired by many trips to Tettegouche State Park in northern Minnesota on the north shore of Lake Superior.

This scene is taken from sketches done on top of Shovel Point looking southwest along the shoreline.

Just a dozen or so feet from this tree is a cliff that goes straight down several hundred feet to the clear waters of Lake Superior. It's a popular place for rock climbing.
